Marie Baptista

Meet Marie!

Marie Baptista is the Community Engagement Officer in the Central Australia Region and has nearly 9 years of experience with the Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES). Marie started as a volunteer and became a staff member in 2023 continuing her lifelong connection to NTES, with both of her parents also having been volunteers.

Marie has been involved in many critical operations, such as flood responses in Daly River and Beswick, Cyclone Marcus, Cyclone Trevor, and NTES's contributions to COVID-19 efforts. She also represented NTES at the 2022 National Disaster Rescue Challenge and attended the 2023 Young Emerging Leaders Conference.

In addition to emergency response, Marie is also involved in community events like the Cyclone Expo, NT Police Force and NT Fire and Rescue Service open days, and the Variety Children’s Christmas Parties. She has completed advanced training in areas such as search and rescue, flood boat operations, and emergency management.

Her service has earned her several awards like the NT Emergency Service Volunteer Service Medal, the COVID-19 Medal, and the 2020 Volunteering NT Chief Minister's Youth Volunteer of the Year Award. Marie is a passionate mental health advocate, representing NTES in the ‘Are They Triple OK?’ initiative.

Marie is deeply engaged in her community events and aims foster community resilience. Marie shares, “Through my experiences, I have developed a strong passion for serving others, and I remain committed to using my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact on my community and beyond.”
