The Northern Territory Police Force have responded to a light aircraft crash in Middle Point earlier today.

Around 10.20am, police received reports of a crash involving a light aircraft in the Fogg Dam with two occupants onboard.

The Search and Rescue Section coordinated a response and a CareFlight Helicopter was dispatched to the area.  

An uninjured 29-year-old female passenger was winched from the scene by helicopter and transported to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment.

The 63-year-old male pilot was located deceased inside the aircraft.

A crime scene was declared and investigations into the crash are ongoing.
