Arrests - Robbery – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested three offenders in relation to a robbery that occurred in Alice Springs this morning.

Around 6.40am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC) received a report of a robbery in East Side. The male victim was exercising on Sturt Terrace when he noticed a group of people drinking in the Todd River.

The victim spoke with the group, who became aggressive, allegedly throwing rocks and sticks at the victim, before holding the victim’s arms behind his back and stealing his mobile phone. The offenders fled the scene towards Sadadeen.

Strike Force Viper members attended and recovered the mobile phone near Mercorella Circuit in Sadadeen. Two men, aged 30 and 32, and a 27-year-old woman were subsequently located and arrested a short time later in the Alice Springs CBD. All are expected to be charged later today.

The victim did not suffer any injuries and investigations are ongoing.

Commander James Gray-Spence said, “I commend the swift actions of attending police to locate the stolen phone and arrest the alleged offenders.

“We are thankful the victim was not injured in this incident.
