Northern Territory Police have arrested two men in relation to a large drug seizure that occurred over the weekend in Darwin.
On Friday 6 December, the Drug and Organised Crime Squad (DOCS) executed a search warrant at a residence in Woolner and arrested a 29-year-old man for drug and weapon offences. Further investigations revealed the man was expecting a delivery of methamphetamine at a later date.
Around 3:50pm Tuesday 10 December, detectives arrested a 25-year-old man who was allegedly in the process of supplying three kilograms of methamphetamine in the carpark of a shopping centre on Trower Road.
The alleged offender has been charged with the Supply Schedule 1 Dangerous drug – Commercial Quantity and Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Quantity.
He has been remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court Thursday 12 December 2024.
Superintendent Lee Morgan stated, “These arrests are the result of exemplary police work and extensive investigative efforts.
“The supply and distribution of methamphetamine causes significant harm in our community both in health outcomes and in financially stability. Drug consumption is often a pre-curser to property crime, assaults and domestic and family violence.
“We remain committed to disrupting the flow of illicit substances onto our streets and safeguarding our community.”
