Northern Territory Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman in Katherine overnight.

At around 9:10pm, police responded to reports of a distressed man on O’Shea Terrace. Upon arrival, officers located a 22-year-old woman nearby. Despite efforts to perform CPR, she was pronounced deceased by St John Ambulance shortly after.

The arrested man has been confirmed as the victim’s partner and remains in custody at this time.

A crime scene has been established and remains active.

Detectives are in the early stages of their investigation and urge anyone with information, particularly CCTV footage, to contact police on 131 444, quoting reference number P24270217.
