Police

Last Friday afternoon, the Northern Territory Police proudly swore in eight new recruits as part of Police Auxiliary Squads 90 and 91 at a ceremony held in Darwin. These recruits will now embark on rigorous training programs, with Squad 90 set to undertake 12 weeks of specialised training and Squad 91 commencing a 16-week course, before both squads graduate in December.

Police Auxiliary Squad 90 will form a critical part of the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre (JESCC), providing essential frontline support through communication and coordination. Meanwhile, Police Auxiliary Squad 91 will take on key frontline duties, assisting NT Police officers in various operational capacities.

Acting Assistant Commissioner People and Wellbeing, James A. O’Brien expressed his pride in the achievement of the recruits, stating,

"We are immensely proud of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the members of Police Auxiliary Squads 90 and 91. They are stepping into roles that are crucial to our efforts in both the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre and frontline policing. Their presence will significantly bolster our capabilities, and we look forward to their contributions to community safety in the Northern Territory."

The Northern Territory Police welcome these new members into the policing family and wish them success in their future careers.
