Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash in Darwin that occurred yesterday evening.

Around 5:45pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a collision between a sedan and a Landcruiser at the intersection of Coonawarra Road and Bombing Road, Winnellie.

The 18-year-old female driver of the sedan suffered critical injuries and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment. She was declared deceased a short time after arrival.

The 43-year-old male driver of the Landcruiser suffered minor injuries and tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

A crime scene was established and Major Crash detectives are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or who might have dashcam or CCTV of the incident to call 131 444 and quote reference NTP2400089504.
