Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash near Katherine early this morning.

Around 4:20am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a single vehicle crash around 30km South of Katherine on the Stuart Highway.

The 17-year-old male driver was pronounced deceased upon emergency service arrival.

A crime scene was established and there was a diversion in place for motorists travelling in the area. The highway has since re-opened. 

The Lives Lost on Territory Roads in 2024 now stands at 48.
