Arrest – Domestic violence – Malak

Police

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a serious domestic violence incident that occurred early this morning in Malak.

Emergency services responded to a disturbance at a residence on Fawcett Court shortly after 1:00am. Upon arrival, officers discovered a fresh pool of blood at the entryway. Initial inquiries indicated that the blood resulted from an altercation between two females at the location. The victim, who did not appear visibly injured at the time, left the scene and was reported heading towards Tabletop Place, Malak. The male suspect was not located at the scene.

A short time later, police were dispatched to a second location following a report that the man was threatening the victim. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, suffering from apparent stab wounds to her ankle.

St John Ambulance attended the scene, and the woman, aged 29, was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital. She is currently receiving medical treatment.

Just after 4:30am, police received a report of a blood trail discovered at Hawkins Court, Malak. Officers followed the trail and located a man, identified as the offender from the earlier incidents, asleep beside a pool of blood. After a brief foot pursuit, the man was arrested at the scene and taken to Palmerston Watch House, where he remains in police custody. Investigations are ongoing, and police urge anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incidents to contact them on 131 444.

Detectives from the Northern Domestic Violence Sex Crimes Division  have been notified and will take over the investigation. Three separate crime scenes have been established as part of this investigation.
