Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred overnight in Knuckey Lagoon.
At around 8:20pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a call reporting an incident where a vehicle had struck a pedestrian on the Stuart Highway near Knuckey Lagoon.
The driver did the right thing, remained at the scene, called “000” and cooperated with the police. St John paramedics attended the crash however, the woman, aged 42, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Stuart Highway was closed for most of the night while police conducted their investigation. Major Crash Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police urge anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage and has not yet spoken to the police, to contact them at 131 444.
