Call for information – Hit and run – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after a pedestrian strike occurred in Palmerston overnight.

Around 11:30pm, police received reports that a female pedestrian had been hit by a red coloured vehicle on Emery Avenue in Woodroofe.

The driver initially failed to stop at the scene or render assistance, but subsequently pulled over and called emergency services a short time later. Police located the driver and conducted a breath test, which returned a positive reading.

The 36-year-old male driver was taken into custody and is expected to be charged later today.

The female pedestrian was transported to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition with injuries to her head.

Investigations are continuing.
