Arrests – Vehicle pursuit and drug seizure - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested 3 people in relation to a vehicle pursuit in Palmerston overnight.

Around 11:55pm, Police initiated a pursuit of a white Holden Commodore that was being driven erratically on Chung Wah Terrace, Palmerston. The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, the vehicle mounted a roundabout and lost control near a shopping centre on Temple Terrace.   Police attended the location and arrested a 16-year-old female at the scene.  A quantity of cash and a trafficable quantity of cannabis was seized from the vehicle.

Police later located and arrested two males aged 16 and 20 relating to the incident. The 20-year-old driver of the vehicle allegedly assaulted the arresting police officer who did not require treatment. 

The 20-year-old driver has been charged with multiple offences including:

  • Drive vehicle in a dangerous manner
  • Driver with prohibited drug in body
  • Assault a member of the police force
  • Supply schedule 2 less commercial quantity
  • Possession schedule 2 trafficable quantity

He has been refused Police bail.

The two 16-year-olds and one other 16-year-old male will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.
