Northern Territory Police are responding to a fatal car crash that occurred near Numbulwar this afternoon.

Numbulwar police were informed of an incident after the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre received a report of the accident just after 2.30pm.

Police and staff from the Numbulwar health clinic attended the scene about 6km from the town on Numbulwar Road where they found a Land cruiser travelling from Numbulwar to Ngukkur had rolled.

The 20-year-old female driver of the vehicle was declared deceased at the scene.

A male passenger and four children were taken to the Numbulwar Clinic for assessment, with the four children flown to Darwin by CareFlight to be assessed further.

Numbulwar Road between Numbulwar and Ngukkur is closed until further notice.
