The Northern Territory Police Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating after a fatal motorbike crash near Alice Springs yesterday.

Around 4pm, emergency services were notified of a collision between a motorbike and quadbike on the Finke Track near Maryvale Road, 35km south of the Stuart Highway intersection.

The 27-year-old male quadbike rider was declared deceased at the scene while the 24-year-old male motorcycle rider was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital in a serious condition. He has since been flown interstate for treatment.

Major Crash Detectives remain on scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area and follow all traffic directions.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
