Arrest – Serious harm – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man after an aggravated assault in Alice Springs overnight.

Around 6pm, police received reports a 44-year-old man was assaulted by a 48-year-old man on Driver Court, Braitling. The offender allegedly struck the victim with a baseball bat, rendering him unconscious.

The victim was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital in a serious condition. The offender, who was known to the victim, was arrested a short time later.

Detectives from the Crime Unit expect to charge him with:

  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Going armed in public

He will appear in Alice Springs Local Court at a later date.
