Northern Territory Police arrested a 56-year-old man at the Palmerston bus depot after a domestic violence incident between him and his partner at around 8.15pm last night.

A 32-year-old woman has been treated in hospital for a laceration to her stomach after the man allegedly stabbed her with a knife.

Nearby security guards intervened and were threatened by the armed man, however successfully subdued him before the police arrived.

The man remains in police custody and will be charged later today.
