Charges – Unlawful entry – Darwin CBD

Northern Territory Police have charged a 54-year-old man in relation to the unlawful entry of a business in the Darwin CBD on New Year’s Day.

At 8:00pm, a licensed business on Smith Street was allegedly unlawfully entered by a man who was accompanied by a child. The pair allegedly stole a large quantity of alcohol.

The offender was identified through CCTV and was later located on the Esplanade and arrested.

Strike Force Trident detectives have since charged the man with:

  • Damage to property
  • Unlawful Entry – building
  • Stealing

He was remanded to appear in Darwin local Court today.

The child was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth justice Act 2005.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Bland said “Strike Force Trident continue to urge members of the public to report any incidents of property crime through 131 444 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
