Northern Territory Police have arrested a youth in relation to an aggravated robbery in Stuart Park overnight.

At around 11:00pm, a 16-year-old male allegedly entered a taxi on Knuckey Street. A short time later the male allegedly threatened the driver with an edged weapon on Dinah Beach Road. The driver fled the vehicle and the male drove off in the stolen taxi.

The vehicle was sighted being driven dangerously at the intersection of Dick Ward and Fitzer drive before being abandoned on McMillans Road.

Serious Crime detectives arrested the youth earlier today. He is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and serious breach of bail.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brett Cottier said, “This was a traumatic experience for the driver of the taxi and it was incredibly lucky no one was injured.
