Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to a serious assault in Stuart Park last weekend.

Detective Sergeant Michael Budge said members from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit arrested the man on Friday morning and charged him late this afternoon with:

·    Intend Serious harm - Cause any harm

·    Fail to render assistance

·    Engage in conduct in contravention of DVO

Police will oppose bail, with a court date still to be set.

“Domestic violence is unfortunately common, but it is never acceptable. Police will continue to work with the community to target these offenders. It is everyone’s business to speak out and work together to prevent this senseless violence,” said Detective Sergeant Budge.
