Northern Territory Police have charged a 38-year-old man with multiple drug and firearm offences following a recent operation in Nhulunbuy.
Police arrested the man in possession of several clip seal bags of methamphetamine.
At Nhulunbuy Police Station he undertook a drug analysis test and returned positive results for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
Superintendent Joanne Foley said, “At a subsequent search of the man’s residence, police seized further drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, ketamine and prescription medicines, along with a registered but unsecured firearm and ammunition. A further four registered and secured firearms were also seized.”
The man was charged with:
- Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug - commercial quantity
- 5 x Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity
- Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug - public place
- Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug
- Unlawful possession of schedule 4 substance
- Drive with prohibited drug in body
- Drive unregistered vehicle
- Drive uninsured vehicle
- Fail to meet storage requirements (firearm)
- Fail to meet storage requirements (ammunition)
He was granted bail to appear in Darwin Local Court on 10 February 2021.
