Call for information – Structure Fire – Darwin City

Police

Northern Territory Police are calling for anyone with information relating to a structure fire in Darwin City last Friday to come forward.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said, “Around 2:30pm on Friday 6 November, police and fire services were called to a structure fire on the corner of McMinn St and Gardiner St in the Darwin CBD”.

The derelict house had been abandoned for some years, but it is understood was sometimes frequented by squatters. It was not occupied at the time of the fire. The building was fully engulfed by flames and neighbouring buildings were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

“Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around 2pm on Friday afternoon who may have seen any suspicious activity. It is a busy area and people may have dashcam footage from the time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9473474.
