An 18-year-old male has died as a result of a single vehicle crash in Karama yesterday afternoon.

At about 2:30pm yesterday, Northern Territory Police received reports of the crash involving a single occupant. The driver failed to negotiate a left hand bend in the road, travelled up onto the median strip, lost control and crashed into a light pole.

The driver suffered serious head and other injuries. He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital but sadly died this morning.

The circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash will be investigated by the Major Crash Investigation Unit.

The 2019 Northern Territory road toll now stands at 32 compared to 50 this time last year.
