Aggravated assault – Darwin

Northern Territory Police have issued a notice to appear in court to a 43-year-old male following a violent incident on Sunday, 22 September 2019.

A male victim was socialising at a Mitchell Street premises around 3:30am when he was asked to leave by the premises’ crowd controller. Police allege the victim was punched by the 43-year-old crowd controller when he and the victim were outside the premises.

A short time later, the crowd controller allegedly assaulted the victim as the victim was sitting on the ground and facing away. The victim sustained serious injuries and required surgery to his eye socket.

The 43-year-old is expected to appear in Darwin Local Court on 18 December 2019 to face charges of unlawfully cause serious harm, aggravated assault and fail to comply with conditions of licence.
