A 43-year-old male has died after losing control of his vehicle in Alice Springs today.
Police were alerted to the crash on the Ross Highway, between Emily and Jessie Gap at approximately 2:00 pm this afternoon.
Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance members arrived at the scene, however the male was declared deceased moments later.
At this stage it appears that the male was travelling inbound along the highway, heading towards Alice Springs when he lost control of the vehicle, travelled onto the grass verge on the opposite side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll several times.
It is unknown at this stage as to whether alcohol or speed were contributing factors in the crash and investigations into its cause are continuing.
Further information will be provided when available.
Police would again like to remind people to take care on our roads and drive to the conditions.
This takes the Northern Territory road toll for 2009 to one, compared to zero for the same period last year.
