Police received a report from the club manager just after 7pm that he had caught a man in a storeroom at the club. Police were told the man was hiding behind a filing cabinet.
The offender appears to have broken into the storeroom and then passed out a number of bottles of wine to two co-offenders outside. Twenty two bottles of Shiraz Cabernet and nine bottles of Chardonnay were missing. The manager apprehended the alleged offender and held him in the bar of the club until police arrived.
The 32-year-old man was arrested and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today charged with unlawful entry and stealing.
