Tennant Creek Police arrested an 18-year-old male early this morning as he attempted to leave the Tennant Creek Pharmacy/Newsagency in Paterson Street.

At about 2.40 am police were notified of a multiple alarm activation at the premises and on arrival observed that someone was inside. They quickly identified that entry had been gained through the roof and one officer climbed up and arrested the male as he exited through the skylight.

Approximately $4 000 damage was caused to the premises and stock and the alleged offender was in possession of a quantity of recharge phone cards, pre-paid phone cards and a small quantity of coins.

The male was conveyed to the Tennant Creek Police Station and is expected to be charged later today.
