Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to an assault and robbery that occurred early this morning in Stuart Park.

At about 4.00 am a 29-year-old woman was walking along the Stuart Highway near Duke Street in Stuart Park when a dirty dual cab Toyota 4WD stopped and two males assaulted her by punching the woman to the face and stealing her wallet and a digital camera.

One of the offenders was described to police as of Aboriginal appearance, early 20's, bald, wearing a white singlet and dark thongs. The second offender was described as of Aboriginal appearance, short curly Afro style hair, red shirt and dirty white trainer style shoes.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the incident, or anyone with information that could assist police identify the offenders, is urged to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
