Police are investigating an incident in which human remains were found at the base of Uluru this morning.

Yulara police received a report just before 7.30am this morning that Park Rangers had discovered what appeared to be human remains. The remains were found in scrub approximately 500 metres south-east of the base of the Uluru climb.

Detectives and forensic crews from Alice Springs have flown to Yulara this morning to investigate. No further details are available at this time but police said the body appears to have been at the site for some time.
