The report was received about 1.00 am and Police, Fire and Rescue and St John Ambulance officers attended the scene. The item, a black bag with wires protruding from it, could not be identified and specialists from the Territory Response Section were called to attend.

The item was declared harmless and appears to be some type of battery pack.

"These reports are taken seriously which resulted in some disruption to traffic and pedestrian movements in the area, "said Darwin Watch Commander Senior Sergeant Chris Lyndon.
