Drowning incident – Rapid Creek

A 13-year-old boy who was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital after nearly drowning in Rapid Creek this afternoon, has passed away in ICU.

Police and St Johns Ambulance crews were called to an area of Rapid Creek near the Darwin Airport at around 4:30 pm after receiving a report that a boy had nearly drowned in the waterway.

Police and Aviation Fire and Rescue members attempted to revive the youth before St Johns Ambulance arrived and conveyed the youth to hospital .

Police received a report shortly before 10 pm that the boy had passed away.
