Arrest – stolen property

Police

Members of the Commander's Tactical Team and Youth Crime Unit arrested a 43-year-old man yesterday in relation to stolen property offences.

At about 3.50 am they observed the man remove a Hilti Drill from the rear tray of a white Toyota Hilux utility parked on Smith Street. The man then allegedly dragged the drill into bushes located near the Woolworths car park and when he re-emerged was no longer in possession of the drill.

Police apprehended the man and located property stolen from the utility consisting of electric drills and welding equipment to the value of approximately $1 900 in the bushes.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and later charged with stealing from a motor vehicle. He was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on 19 March.
