Major Crime Detectives currently have a 47-year-old male in custody in relation to a suspicious death that occurred over night.

Members received reports of an altercation occurring between the male and a 49-year-old female near the Rapid Creek Bridge on Casuarina Drive at approximately 3.50 pm yesterday afternoon.

Police attended the scene and the female was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital where she later passed away.

Detectives are continuing their investigations into the incident and further updates will be provided as information comes to hand.
