Police

Members of the Katherine Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk, General Duties' officers and the Katherine Dog Operations Unit yesterday executed a search warrant at a unit in Power Crescent, Katherine.

Drug Dog Archie reacted positively and a search of the premises located 14 small clip seal bags of cannabis in a bedroom. The 33-year-old male occupant of the unit was also searched and police located one small clip seal bag of cannabis in his pants pocket.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the Katherine Police Station and later charged with unlawfully supply cannabis to another (x6), possess cannabis and possess cannabis in a public place.

He was bailed to appear in the Katherine Court on 31 March.

In a separate incident, a 22-year-old male was observed fleeing from a unit in Lucy Street, Katherine and seen throwing an object over a fence.

Following a short foot chase he was apprehended and the object, being a bag containing 20 grams of cannabis, retrieved. He was arrested and conveyed to the Katherine Police Station and later charged with possessing cannabis in a public place.

He was bailed to appear in the Katherine Court on 31 March.
