Stolen motorbikes – 15-year-old male charged

Police

During the evening of Wednesday 11 March the male along with a co-offender attended at the residence and used bolt cutters to cut a padlock on the front gates and entered the yard.

They then removed two trail bikes, an orange KTM 450 and a Honda XR 250, by wheeling them out of the yard into a nearby laneway. As they were in the process of starting the bikes they were disturbed by a neighbour and the 15-year-old male rode off on the Honda while the co-offender dumped the other bike which was recovered by the neighbour.

The 15-year-old male then rode the stolen bike to Palmerston and drove around several locations until he was apprehended by police in McGuire Circuit, Moulden. He was arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House and later charged with:

Stealing
Criminal damage
Unlawful use of a motor vehicle
Trespass on enclosed premises
Drive unlicensed
Drive unregistered/uninsured
Ride motorbike without helmet.

He was bailed with conditions to appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court on 31 March.

Enquiries are continuing to locate the co-offender.
