A man will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today after an incident involving a rifle at an outlying community near Alice Springs at the weekend.
On Friday night Police received a report from residents of Black Tank Community approximately 90 kilometres north of Alice Springs that they had been threatened by a man armed with a firearm.
Police from Alice Springs attended the community and arrested a 20-year-old man and seized a .22 calibre rifle and a quantity of ammunition. He was charged with possessing an unlicensed firearm, possessing ammunition without a licence, having an unsecured firearm and failing to meet storage requirements.
He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
