Arrests for break-ins –Alice Springs

Police

Five people have been arrested following a break-in at the Alice Springs memorial Club yesterday.

Police received a report just after 2.30am yesterday (Tues 24 march 2009) that the Alice Springs Memorial Club had been broken into and a quantity of liquor had been stolen. Police allege two of the five offenders removed approximately $300 worth of alcohol from the club after smashing a window to gain access. The offenders allegedly put the alcohol into two eskies which were kept behind the bar and then left the premises. The three co-offenders then helped them carry the two eskies to the top of Billygoat Hill where they were located and arrested by police a short time later.

Three men aged 19, 41 and 29 and two women aged 20 and 22 were charged with numerous offences including:

unlawful entry of a building at night
stealing
criminal damage
receiving stolen property

The men will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today while the two women have been bailed to appear on May 5.
