Katherine Detectives and General Duties' members have arrested a 26-year-old woman after it is alleged she stabbed her 27-year-old husband last night.

It is alleged at about 9.30 pm the woman stabbed her husband on a number of occasions about his upper body in the Bulla Community, situated about 70 kilometres north-west of Timber Creek.

The victim was transported to the Katherine District Hospital where he was admitted and remains in a serious but stable condition.

The 26-year-old woman has been charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and bailed to appear in the Katherine Court at a later date.
