Members from the Darwin Investigations Unit were alerted to an incident that occurred at approximately 9.55 pm last night where a 33-year-old male was assaulted.

It is believed that the victim was walking from a bus stop on the Stuart Highway in Berrimah towards Truck City when he was approached by three males.

The men asked the victim for cigarettes and then allegedly punched him a number of times before restraining him on the ground and removing his wallet containing about $175 and a packet of cigarettes then fled to the near by Caltex Service Station.

It is alleged the offenders then arrived at the Shell Service Station, Truck City in a white Holden Commodore before leaving the area in a silver Subaru station wagon leaving the Holden behind.

Police have seized the Holden Commodore and the owner of the vehicle has not yet been located.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or has information that could assist police, to call 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
