Unlawful entries – Casuarina

Police

Members of the Youth Crime Unit have two youths in custody in relation to several unlawful entries that occurred over the weekend.

It appears that homes and businesses in Brinkin, Casuarina, Rapid Creek, Nightcliff, Karama and Leanyer were unlawfully entered between Friday night and Monday morning.

Items including wallets, a mobile phone, a digital camera, cash and a quantity of alcohol were stolen from the properties.

Through dedicated work of Youth Crime Unit, they apprehended two males aged 14 and 16, in relation to the unlawful entries that occurred at The Salvation Army, Curves, the Yummy Noodle Box, Mitre 10, Tony Ferguson and Scripture Union.

Acting Senior Sergeant Andy Bedwell of the Commander's Tactical Team said that it is important everyone keeps their homes, businesses and belongings secured at all times.

"It is a timely reminder to members of the public just how aware they need to be of opportunistic thieves.

"There is a high probability that if you leave your home unsecured, an offender will take advantage of the situation.

"The message is simple, lock it or lose it.

"I also urge parents to be aware of where their children are at all times, especially throughout the school holidays" he said.

The youths are expected to be charged later today.

Police urge anyone that witnesses any suspicious activity, or who believe they may have information in relation to any of the abovementioned unlawful entries to contact them on 131 444.
