Easter Traffic Campaign -Alice Springs

Police

Police are launching an Easter Traffic campaign on Thursday to encourage safe driving during the long weekend.

Sergeant Conan Robertson from the Southern Traffic Operations unit said extra random breath testing units (RBT) would be targeting drink drivers and unregistered vehicles as part of the campaign.

"A lot of people will be on the roads this weekend because of the Lightning Cup Carnival and man will also be going camping over the Easter weekend, " Sgt Robertson said.

"We would like to remind people to lock their doors and windows in an effort to prevent opportunistic property crime.

"Also we urge people to drive safely and ensure they get their vehicles checked before they leave.

"We also need to remind people if they're travelling out of town, to let their neighbours, family or friends know where they're going so if they get lost or stuck out bush, others have some idea as to where they can be located."

Alternatively people can register their travel plans with NT Police at the front desk of the Police Station.
