Police have arrested two 20-year-old males in relation to a series of assaults in Darwin City early this morning.

At about 4:20 am this morning police received the report that five males aged 19,24,25,26 and 37-years-old had been assaulted in Smith Street mall. It is alleged the victims and offenders left the Victoria Hotel separately and walked toward the Knuckey Street end of the mall where the assaults took place.

The five victims received various injuries including bruising, concussion and lacerations requiring stitches.

The offenders were apprehended on Smith Street and are currently in custody. The two men are expected to be charged with assault and assault causing harm and will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court at a later date.

Police have spoken to a number of witnesses and urge any person who may have witnessed the incidents that occurred over night to contact to Police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
