Police are appealing to the public for assistance in the investigation of several assaults which occurred outside the Casino at the weekend.

Police received numerous reports of people being assaulted by a group of up to eight men outside the Casino just after 1.30am this morning. Police believe there were numerous attacks resulting in serious assaults and several of the victims may not yet have come forward.

Acting Senior Sergeant Andy Bedwell said police believe there were a number of witnesses to the assaults.

"It is imperative we have an opportunity to speak to those in the area at the time of the attacks, and we would like any witnesses or victims who have not yet been spoken to to come forward ," A/Sen Sgt Bedwell said.

"It appears the offenders may have been demanding money and assaulting victims.
These were cowardly attacks on innocent members of the public and we are determined to find the offenders. "

Police are also investigating a number of other assaults which occurred in the Darwin CBD area over the weekend.
