Police

More than 132 litres of liquor was seized by police near Aileron outside of Ti Tree last night.

Police received information in the early afternoon of a large number of persons gathering and drinking within and outside the Aileron Road House resulting in incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Police were sent from Alice Springs and Willowra to assist Ti Tree Police in conducting a combined operation in the area.

According to Tennant Creek Superintendent Bruce Porter the operation targeted anti-social behaviour in and around Aileron as well as grog running into prescribed communities.

Three arrests were made for drink driving and other traffic offences and another two arrests were made, one for breaching a domestic violence order and one for an outstanding warrant of apprehension.

Three male drivers aged 33, 46 and 49 where arrested for drink driving with readings of .053%, .092% and .083%. All are facing charges of driving unlicensed and disqualified.

Police seized 11 cartons of beer and 2.5 litres of spirits.

Superintendent Bruce Porter states that the consumption of alcohol and the resultant incidents of alcohol related violence and other offences is a concern for the safety of the community as a whole and will not be tolerated.

"Police will continue to actively target and bring offenders before the courts to curb such offending," said Superintendent Porter.
