Six people were arrested after police caught them in the process of breaking into an Alice Springs school at the weekend.

Police conducting patrols of the area around Bradshaw Primary School just before 10pm on Saturday found a group of males trying to jemmy open the doors to the school.

Police found members of the group were armed with a jemmy bar and a leatherman knife which they were using to force entry to the premises.

Five of the males were juveniles aged between 14 and 17 while the sixth person was an 18-year-old man. The juveniles will be considered for Youth Diversion while the adult will be summonsed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court at a later date.
