Police

Police have arrested a 45-year-old male in relation to an assault that occurred at approximately 12:50 am this morning in a Darwin City pub.

It is alleged that a domestic altercation occurred at Kitty O'Shea's on Mitchell Street between the male and a 44-year-old female, resulting in the female having a large part of her ear bitten off.

Police and St John ambulance members attended the scene and the victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical treatment.

The offender fled the scene, however was located a short time later in a neighbouring suburb.

He has since been arrested and charged with assault person - cause serious harm, assault a female - offender male and bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court on 26 May.

Investigations into the incident are continuing and police urge anyone that witnessed the event to contact them on 131 444.
