Police and Fire and Rescue members were kept busy last night and early this morning responding to several vehicle fires that occurred throughout the Northern Suburbs and the Palmerston area.

At approximately 6:00 pm members were notified of a vehicle fire in bush land near Rocklands Drive, Brinkin.

It was soon established that the Ford Festiva had been reported stolen on Sunday from a Coconut Grove residence.

Members received another report of a vehicle fire at around 11:00 pm and soon located a Toyota Corolla on fire near the intersection of Vanderlin Drive and Gsell Street in Casuarina.

It is unsure at this stage as to whether the Toyota had been stolen.

At 3:00 am another vehicle was located on fire on the Stuart Highway in Pinelands.

It is believed that the Ford Falcon had been abandoned for approximately one week.

Investigations into the incidents are continuing and Police urge anyone that may have witnessed any of these events, or anyone acting suspiciously in these areas, to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
