At about 1:45 am this morning police were alerted to an abandoned vehicle on Dickward Drive in Coconut Grove. The blue Mitsubishi Nimbus was left on the road with the keys in the ignition and windows down.

At the time of the call, police patrols located the vehicle and attempted to apprehend the male occupant, described as a young male of Aboriginal appearance. A foot chase ensued and the male fled into bush land near the airport.

The Dog Operations Unit was called out to assist in sweeping the area however the male was not located.

The vehicle had been stolen from a mechanical workshop on Tang Street.

A white Toyota Prado was sighted in the area and may also be related to the incident.

Police would like those who may have sighted the suspicious person or the vehicles in the area to call police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
