Police have released CCTV images of a person wanted in connection with a sexual assault which occurred in Nightcliff over the weekend.
Detectives from the Darwin Investigations Unit are investigating an incident in which a 56-year-old woman was punched repeatedly to the head before being sexually assaulted near the Woolworths shopping complex early Saturday morning.
The woman told police she was walking along Progress Drive around 3am on Saturday when she was approached by a man who assaulted her. The offender fled after being disturbed by staff arriving for work. Police said the alleged offender was caught on CCTV and is described as being in his 20s, of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 170cm tall with a slim build and brown hair. He had a dark t-shirt over his shoulder and was wearing three-quarter length denim shorts and brown sandals.
