Detectives from the Darwin Investigation Unit have arrested an 18-year-old male in relation to the assault that occurred in Nightcliff in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It is alleged that the 18-year-old male assaulted a 56-year-old female near the Woolworths Shopping Complex at approximately 3:00 am.

He fled the scene after the incident and was located by Detectives in Malak last night.

He has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent and aggravated assault and was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate's Court today.
