Police are following up a new lead in the search for a man who was last seen in Alice Springs in August last year.
Peter Wayne Murphy, 46, is described as a Caucasian male of slim build, 182 cm tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair with some grey and a grey beard. He was last seen at the Town and Country bar in the Todd Mall around 12 noon on Sunday August 17, 2008.

Police issued photos of the missing man and also distributed flyers throughout the Territory and South Australia. The missing man's families also distributed flyers throughout South Australia.

A woman contacted Crime Stoppers recently after she recognised the man in one of the flyers in Coober Pedy. The woman said she had picked up a man matching his description in September last year near the outskirts of Coober Pedy. She said she drove him into town and thought no more about it until she recognised him from the flyer.

Police have today re-issued Mr Murphy's photo in the hope others may also recognise him and contact police.
